Requirements gathering & feedback generation – essential

Working with users to help articulate KPI/Dashboard requirements and feed these into the backlog
Conduct small group / 1:1 sessions to develop measures fulfilled by visual analysis based on data that may or may not currently exist
Understand differences between data sources and file formats including csv, xls, SQL databases, etc and can question the processes and tools that may generate & store this data
Use prototypes to help capture feedback in a structured manner to allow further qualitative analysis

Data Visualisation – essential

Commercial BI tool experience absolutely necessary. Ideally Tableau Desktop, or similar tool such as Microsoft Power BI / Qlik Sense
Knowledge of Tableau Server functionality and administration desirable
Creative approach to presenting data in various combinations of views to tell a story to the user: Quickly identify what is going on; understand the problem if it exists via context; know how they can take action or recognise good performance
Own the development backlog, in terms of both story refinement and development activities

Data extract, transformation and load (ETL) experience – desirable

Refresh existing data sources based on documented processes (necessary)
Work with data engineer to help populate the Tableau dashboard with data from the various sources – via native connectors / SQL / flat files
Transforming acquired data into the data model and driving out any mapping assumptions for sources with varying data standards – excel or via ETL tool
